I went to Toby's carvery today with my sister, it was my first time & I have to say the carvery was so delicious & hot, the service was quite good too, I will definitely be coming back to u again, superb!

First time going to the carvery. The vegetables were overcooked and tasteless, nothing was very hot, veg and vegan options were okay though. We weren't expecting fine dining but this was canteen food at best.

The visit was far from satisfactory, I took my self my partner my friend and her son. We arrived at the restaurant and was greeted by a far from cheery manager. He was stressed & short with the party. We then ordered 2 king-size carveries one regular cavery and a child's cavery. We went to the cavery stand to be greeted with a polite & professional chef who had no meat. He explained that the premises had been very busy and there would not be any meat available until at least 17.30, this was quite shocking to us as I am aware the premises works on a booking system, so can therefore predict the amount of covers that it has for the day. This doesn't seem to have been the case, and it seems the amount of expected covers for the day hadn't been communicated with the kitchen. If it had been communicated it hadn't been acted upon by the kitchen manager. We agreed that we would wait, for the meat to come out, this delayed our plans for after the meal, and being on a school night for the child, wasn't ideal. When the meat was finally available, there was a lack of vegetables and products had run out. For example there was no stuffing available. Most of the vegetables had been cross contaminated by other products and this ment it was unsafe for one of the party's to eat. Once we had eaten, what felt the scraps, of what was left from a busy day we sat and waited at our table hoping that a member of staff would clear the table and attempt to upsell deserts. We waiting for at least 45 minutes and this wasn't to be the case. The dirty plates had been left on the table and 2 of the party were left with no drinks. There was scope to almost double the overall price of the meal, but unfortunately the staff were not interested in doing this. We paid at the bar with a very rude member of staff who, didn't even so much as look at us. I attempted to engage the member of staff in polite conversation and he simply grunted at me. He stated the cost of the bill as though it was an inconvenience for him. The visit was far from satisfactory, and despite coming to the venue on a weekly basis, we will not be returning. Good customer service cost nothing, but can promote so much income. We had a much better experience just before Christmas when the building was absolutely packed, and left lots of positive feedback during our experience. We was not the only customers to complain, another party approached us and was also throughly disappointed. There was also 2 tables in the section that we was sat in, that left because of the lack of available options, and rude staff members.

Poor ! We had booked and were given a table for two felt like we were squashed in next to the carvery. We ordered drinks but only my partner's drink was brought, waitress gave me an empty glass and said I will bring yours in a minute and never did, but kept looking over at us. Atmosphere was so bad as well as the service we got up and left.

We had a very disappointing experience. One of us ordered the carvery which was as good as usual, The rest of us ordered food from the menu, which took so long to come that the other person in our group had finished their meal. There was absolutely no reason for a vegan pie to take half an hour to warm up, and to add insult to injury, the staff were unfriendly and curt and the pie was handed over on a very cold plate. And as an aside the vegan pies are filled with whatever filling plus lots of sugar so they taste very sickly.

Tonight I waited for a table at 8.40pm To be told they have stopped serving food. Family of three also came to eat and was turned away. Clearly some confusion Around what time food finishes. Please can you reply what time you start and finish Serving food to avoid any future disappointment.

Went in looking for a table. Was simply greeted with 'theres no meat' by a member of staff. Turned around and left.

The place and food could really use some love and attention. The once lovely carvery is looking quite tired and in need of a refresh – it feels like it’s ready to retire. That said, it’s still a decent option if you're looking for a quick meal while traveling around. It may not be as charming as it once was, but it gets the job done when you're on the go.

The food is usually quite good here. However we went for Sunday lunch and it was not good. My son has an allergy so his meal is prepared separately. Most of his meal was cold. His roast dinner consisted of two huge pieces of cauliflower that dominated the plate and small amounts of potatoes and other veg. There was a good amount of meat but it was cold, cauliflower was borderline frozen in the centre. Myself and partner got the full carvery. Roast and mash potatoes were cold, Turkey cold and cauliflower cheese cold. I told the waitress and she just said sorry I will let the chef know. That was it. We ate what we could and left the rest. As I mentioned, it is usually quite good here, it wasn’t that busy so there is no excuse.

Food service excellent as always. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Restaurant clean and festive. Just one thing 'Dump' the dumplings, they are disgusting lumps of uncooked flour, pot holes could be repaired with them!!!
